Bead Soup Blog Party Reveal!

It’s that time again reveal day! I might have mentioned that I decided to take part in Lori Anderson’s Bead Soup Party again this year and luckily I got a UK partner or so I thought….

My first soup went missing 😦 I know how awful it is to not receive things when you have worked your socks off so I always send a replacement even though that gesture rarely happens to me. Maybe I’m too nice and sensitive?!

So pop on over to Jackie at Kydo to see the soup I sent her 🙂

This is what I received….. photo courtesy of Jackie as mine came out too rubbish!

Loved the gemstones and oval quartz.

Some of you may know that my first foray into crafting was beads, I soon became a beadaholic! It was the best way for me to destress from the day job (the place I was working at the time was not good for me at all!)  Then I discovered fabric… and an even bigger obsession… sorry compulsion grew from there.

I’ve literally had not touched my beads in nearly a year so thought this party be a good way for me to get some of that mojo back. It was a struggle I tell you full of despair so I started with simple and grew… here are some of what I’ve compiled so far.

All these are pretty simple but effective I like to think 🙂 It’s a mixture of what I was sent and from my own stash. Sadly I had trouble using most of the pearls and ovals as the holes were too small for my wire of choice (Artistic Wire) but one day I’ll get that back out and experiment.

What did I do when I was pondering…… um this… can you guess how many is contained within the thimble?

Don’t forget from my Etsy shop if you use the code “BDAY2014” you get 25% off stuff just because it’s my birthday on Monday…

And to check out the rest of the bead hop (many many more talented than me!) go here 😉

Right… I’m off to get back to my crafting station.. and it’s fabrics today!

A Bit of Self Indulgence….

…. again! For once there’s blue sky, sun and I have a few days away from the day job. Well in theory… anyway 🙂

So instead of trying to make the WIP mountain smaller I decided to pull out my precious B&C Charm Pack and pick some for a self gratifying mini project 🙂

You have no idea how long it’s taken me to decide! Now to cut so it’s ready to sew when I get home later! I’m actually being social for a change and getting out to meet a friend.

Sneaky peek at something I’m working on… my own spool pattern… This version completely in vintage fabrics.

Lot’s happening this month! There’s my Bead Soup Reveal tomorrow… the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway day starts on Monday and oh boy do I have a treat for you there! Plus I’m guest hosting Sunday Stash

Last but not least to celebrate my birthday on Monday how about a sneaky discount code off the shop? Yes well if you use “BDAY2014” you’ll get 25% off anything in the shop. It is mostly jewellery and bunting in there at the moment though!

Oh here’s the shop 🙂

What’s everyone got planned for the weekend?

Fabric.. Quilt Festival and Craft Club

Finally a new post…

Work, study and a nasty virus has taken me up the past month or so but today had some time out to go to the Exeter Quilt Festival. More photos on that to come once I figure out how to get the photos out of my phone.. Meanwhile there’s a cutesy one on my instagram page here.

I was quite good and restrained myself.. trying to save for a) Sissix Big Shot and b) another sewing machine. These are what I picked up today…

The owl is actually a large panel full of owls and sweet little birdies- am thinking quilt or for a child sized bed 🙂 The ones on the left are for meeee and hopefully be bags or something soon… I had to go back for the others so cute and perfect for little boys.

Came home to a parcel and it’s the new Craft Club from Seamstar- am really pleased with it. Go check it out here if you fancy trying it.

And…… one more thing a sneaky peek for the Squintessential shop if you will….

Crafty Creatives Box

Last month I’ve heard of Crafty Creatives– a company where you sign up and get a box full of crafty goodies to play with each month. Perfect I thought for random inspiration.

Cue much squeeing when this arrived….

Some of the goodies…. coloured jingle bells, vintage style alice in wonderland postcard, ribbon and more!

There was even this cute project inside a crochet mouse- which I can’t wait to attempt! Although my most recent crochet was a disaster…

Definitely worth subscribing to for me this month.. I just got to think of some things to create with it.

Bead Soup Blog Party- Reveal 3

Well the date is finally here! You might have remembered a little while ago I showed off the beads my partner Kathy of Bay Moon Design sent me? As a reminder here are some of them… (I have used some bits already before taking this photo).

The idea was to use one focal bead and the clasp in your own way. The rest of the beads are for inspiration.

Now I definitely knew I wanted to use the seaglass and silk ribbon… but how?

This one was such fun to do as I’ve not done any wire wrapping in ages! I’ve teamed it with a focal clasp from my own stash.

I am obsessed with delicate pretty bracelets and couldn’t wait to turn the focal and clasp into one! Using beads from what Kathy sent me teamed with silver plated wire and chain from my stash.

Some co-ordinating earrings using more of the amazing beads I’ve been sent.

This one is definitely my favourite! Since I saw these seaglasses I had the design of alternating them in my head and I’ve think it turned out rather well!

Ta-da… I’ve not used all of what I’ve been sent but it’s there for a rainy day and I have enough of the silk ribbon left to make a bracelet- just waiting for the right beads to call to me!

Hopefully Kathy likes what I have created. Thank you Lori Anderson for hosting this 🙂
