Stitching Secret Santa

A couple months ago Sheila (Sewchet) had this amazing idea to hold a secret santa with a max limit of ยฃ10 but we can throw in whatever goodies we like to go with it!

Mine went off to Nikki and as she was getting into dressmaking and loved freestyle embroidery I included the Colette Ginger skirt pattern, some gorgeous woolfelt I obtained from Sew and Quilt, along with a notebook and a ruffly scarf I’ve knitted (one of my very few knitted accomplishments probably because it is so easy! To see the goodies check out Nikki’s post here. I felt really bad about not including something sewn but with everything happening I kept putting it off and if I waited it would have got there after christmas! However I think something might be making it’s way pretty soon….

My parcel was unfortunately delayed in the post but opening it was a really good new year present and well worth the wait! Thanks so much Lucie!! To see Lucie’s post about what she put together and why it’s all here ๐Ÿ™‚

P1130322-001

A lovely owl cushion, a liberty needlebook, hanging hearts, gorgeous crochet goodies and isn’t that frog amazing?

P1130323Crochet is on my list to practice and get better at (along with knitting!) so am in awe of this little set, a pin cushion and measuring tape.

The closeup of mr frog is really blurry so you have to make do with the above! I didn’t realise there was pins in the pin cushion so when I picked it up jabbed myself something proper.

Really pleased with how this swap went and will be looking out for more Sheila does.

Reflections and Moving Forward….

So… to all of you still here and reading my little blog- Happy New Year!

2015 has been a bit of a rollercoaster and I’ve not been as creative as I would like but instead of resolutions I’ve chosen a word to keep in mind for 2016.

wordI think this can be applied to almost any aspect of my life… I have a lot of clutter both physically and emotionally and it’s time for a good ole clear out ๐Ÿ™‚

Like making better use of my time and actually using my planner properly… I’m a bit of a stationary geek and tend collect notebooks….

Geek

Or not starting new projects until some WIPs are done. Yes we’ve all been/are there. I have so many ideas of stuff I want to do but got to actually finish things and use what’s in my stash.

I’ve finally updated my 2015 Book list a massive 58 books last year! Going to make sure this year’s is regularly updated… and if any of you are on Goodreads stop by and wave to me here ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve got lots of new plans too including turning this blog into something more regularly updated as a “Creative Lifestyle Blog” and adding something new to my shop! Some sneaky peeks of what’s to come…

mixer

There’s still a few bits left in my Etsy shop if you want a bargain!

My Sewing Space

So… I think finally my sewing space is a bit more organised to show you…. You might have seen this on my Instagram feed but it’s taken me awhile (most of the bank holiday weekend) to sort my quilting cottons…… I ran out of cards and space. In fact I dragged Matthew to Argos early on the sunday morningย just to get another bookcase. Stupidly I thought all of my quilt stuff would fit on one…. (let’s not mention the box full I have hidden)Sewing Room 4My cutting desk which I *try* to keep clear and inspirational ๐Ÿ™‚ The cross stitch was done by my amazing friend Donna of the characters from Firefly complete with quotes! I keep some of the magazines/books I’m working from on it complete with pens, notebook and my Paperchase planner.

Sewing Room

Next where I sew! My little baby the Brother Innovis 350SE still settling in ๐Ÿ™‚ Next to her is a to do list, more pens, a slightly overworked turtle pincushion, lots of thread and most importantly a place for a cup of tea.Sewing Room 2

On my walls are lots of mini quilts, as well as a Jane Austen quote calendar (from Jen of Miss Bohemia) and a wall planner.Sewing Room 3 Despite what you see I’m not the most organised person in the world… (unless you think organised chaos) but I’m trying! Hopefully I can sew a bit more regularly especially before work. I have so many ideas it’s starting to be a struggle converting them from my head…

Bead Soup Blog Party- Reveal 3

Well the date is finally here! You might have remembered a little while ago I showed off the beads my partner Kathy of Bay Moon Design sent me? As a reminder here are some of them… (I have used some bits already before taking this photo).

The idea was to use one focal bead and the clasp in your own way. The rest of the beads are for inspiration.

Now I definitely knew I wanted to use the seaglass and silk ribbon… but how?

This one was such fun to do as I’ve not done any wire wrapping in ages! I’ve teamed it with a focal clasp from my own stash.

I am obsessed with delicate pretty bracelets and couldn’t wait to turn the focal and clasp into one! Using beads from what Kathy sent me teamed with silver plated wire and chain from my stash.

Some co-ordinating earrings using more of the amazing beads I’ve been sent.

This one is definitely my favourite! Since I saw these seaglasses I had the design of alternating them in my head and I’ve think it turned out rather well!

Ta-da… I’ve not used all of what I’ve been sent but it’s there for a rainy day and I have enough of the silk ribbon left to make a bracelet- just waiting for the right beads to call to me!

Hopefully Kathy likes what I have created. Thank you Lori Anderson for hosting this ๐Ÿ™‚
