I’ve actually sewn something….

Yeah I’m still in shock! Me sewing… what is the world coming to! It’s definitely been a struggle past few months and not sure why.. too many projects or should I say too many commitment sewing and not enough for me? Whatever… let’s hope it’s getting over now ๐Ÿ™‚

So what have I been doing….. I’ve had this book Fifty Fat Quarter Makes for Christmas and been dying to try the crochet hook case for ages. Especially since I keep misplacing my hooks.. just when I want to pick up a yarn project.ย  This is for Tara as part of my #bigdamnheroesswap package. I’m not quite happy with the front it doesn’t mesh as well as I wanted it too but I messed up when cutting a couple of weeks ago. I’m blaming the sugar withdrawalness thing going through at the time… headaches, nausea and tiredness and not me okay!

2016-02-03-21.02.24.jpg.jpegReally want to do one for me soon! Also as part of the swap I did a cross stitch and some embroidery- Tara loves Jayne so can you see the theme….

Also this is one of my finishes from the FAL 2016 list.

My little girl is finished!

I’ve slowly been working on this for the past few weeks even since I saw Lilipopo had released it as a pattern on her blog.

Even though she technically did a stitchalong for it I went my own way and mixed it up to my preference. I kinda went to town on the leggings and boots but it is for me!

It also breaks up my wall of quilted minis… when I finally figure out it’s proper home it that is ๐Ÿ˜‰

And… guess what? It’s my first finish in Q4 of the Finish A long! Woohoo go me….

Q4- The Finish A Long

Eek.. it’s that time again to come up withย  a Finish Along list and it’s the last one of 2014! Where has the time gone?? This week especially has been full of ups and downs as I’m still suffering from a silly virus and headaches which when combined with the day job of computers has completely knocked me out.

But I’ve managed to finish some embroidery last night and as I had nothing prepped to sew to the end of Strictly I made my list… and kinda wished I hadn’t! It’s scary even for me and most of it is stuff I have to do. I might have actually taken on too much but we will see. I am so looking forward to my two weeks off in November where I can knock off a few of these “C” makes.

P1110119

1. Woodland Critters Quilt- embroidery, EPP and handquilted! I’m new to embroidery really but it’s becoming a bit of an additction and I like to think I’m improving. The three there took me allllllll week and I’m so tempted to redo the owl and hedgehog but must resist. This has got to be finished by the end of the month…. as it’s being entered into the West Country Quilt Show.

2-4. The “Harper” Quilt, Oliver’s Playmat and Farry’s Quilt as seen here. Yup not much further on those…

P1110121 P1110120

5. IG Mini Quilt Swap- I’m planning to use the teals/blues in top photo along with triangles and hexagons.

6. Little Quilts Swap- The Month of May Mini in top photo with squares and scalloped edges

7. Liberty of London Swap- some grey linen with rainbow liberty for a sewing machine cover and a teeny mini

8. From the Sew Cute to Cuddle book- planning a dragon (for nephew 1), a monkey for Nephew 2 and an owl for my niece.

P1110123

9. Finish my “C” inspired mini wallhanging with the Lilipopo girl embroidery. The girl is done I just have some plans to add a tree and border/quilt it.

10. Stocking for Nephew 2- with his name embroidered on top in linen.

11. Hexie Trees Christmas Table Runner thing.

P1110122

12. I still have these to do- some Sew Together bags as thank you gifts..

I also have this 30s repro mini to finish hand quilting. As well as sort out my “For the Love of Jane” Swap, “Handmade Ornaments” Swap a special Cat Quilt for a friend’s birthday, a bag or two… The list continues but all these will be “bonus” projects as I think I do have more than enough to be getting on with!

Let’s hope I feel ok this week… although I do have a work trip out of County for Pensions Reform 2015 Seminar…. the joys of the day job.

Phew I’ll see you sometime right?! Linking up with Katy over at The Littlest Thistle.

Something new….

So whilst I was at Festival of Quilts I took the Intro to Hand Embroidery workshop. It has been a craft that has been on my list for ages but as most things it’s where to start. The lovely Sarah Humphreys of Edward and the White Bear led it and I was soon hooked…

The brief was to do an sampler for a needlebook case- as the class was only an hour long we took it home to finish and finally last night I got to the stage where I was happy with it.

P1110058

I always seem to like trying to complicate things…. I wanted to do a scene with a river, fields and the sky. My attempt at ploughed fields let’s not even go there so I stuck with the vines and yes I did intentionally do a wormhole in the sky instead of the sun…

P1110062P1110061

Et.. voila the finished needlebook. Matthew commented on the poor fish but overall I like it and I’m sure once I’ve practiced a few more I look back and see how far I’ve become..

P1110059

Straightaway I traced my next project onto linen and started stitching, altho now I kinda wished I used Kona Snow instead of linen but next time…ย  I need to find some variegated brown thread as the kitties seem to be crying out for that! But now I need to choose between variegated black or some vintage style cosmos. Decisions.. decisions…

Is anyone else thinking of going to the West Country Quilt Show in Bristol in November? Sarah is teaching the hand embroidery class there… and also a free motion quilting one which I can’t wait to try as my skills are non existent. And I’m waiting to see what class Alicia Merrett is doing as I loved her satellite map quilts from the Festival.

Hope you are all having a lovely bank holiday. Very wet and dark here today I best stay in and try to catch up on one of my million projects ๐Ÿ™‚
