In the meantime this is my mini in the Instagram Thimbleblossoms Swap. I had intended to do Piccadilly Circus but it seemed everyone was doing that! In the end I chose Vintage Tulips. Hopefully it will be liked…

As an extra I chose a project from the 50 Fat Quarter Makes book- this lil basket- it’s the second smallest in the pattern but you can see how roomy it is! And it did not take long to come together at all.  I’ve also spoiled my partner by including the lil fox hoop and some fabric.

Now onto a cross stich project! (surprise surprise!) Annnd it’s another thing ticked off my FAL 2016 list 🙂

Uk Mini Swap

So.. finally I’m posting about what I made and received in the UK Mini Swap hosted by Nina of Bossyoz over on Instagram.

I was more than nervous when I discovered my partner was none other than Nina herself! The pressure was on to get it right 😉 I knew I wanted to do something with a nautical theme as being from Cornwall how could I not for someone who loves sailboats??

In the end I came up with something inspired by curves…

Curve Sail boat Mini Quilt

It was quite out of my comfort zone! With trying to make it random and appealing… but now I am most definitely in love with curves 🙂 In case you’re wondering.. each curve square is 3″ finished.P1110920

I actually forgot to take a photo of my extras so nabbing this from Nina’s IG feed. I think she liked it 🙂

After postie watching what feels like forever my mini finally turned up a few days ago….. with a lovely fabric basket, box of buttons, some oakshot and 2.5″ squares.

Happy Sunday all! I think I might actually get to sew today.. how is everyone’s bank holiday plans going?

I actually finished something…..

And just in time too! My ALYOF goal was to get this pieced mini quilt turned into something and success. I finished the binding last weekend!

Little cramped for space today so these photos are the best I can do! And if you recognise the pattern or the fabrics…. pop on over to MessyJesse’s shop Sew and Quilt. That is where my inspiration (and a lot of the fabrics came from! Thanks Jesse 🙂 )

Quilt Stats:

Size: 16 x 13.5″

Fabric: Kona (not sure of exact shade but blue) mixture of Moda 30s playtime, Grace in a Pickle and Darlene Zimmerman

Quilting: Straight line with walking foot (I know I’m so boring!)

All in all pretty pleased I managed to finish this even if I’m not happy with my points or messed up the trimming and quilting… hey ho let’s not dwell on that!

So.. any other finishes? I did finish another mini quilt more on that soon!

I actually finished something….

And quick too! Started mid afternoon Thursday and stitched last bit of the binding early Friday morning.

P1100238Isn’t it great? A mini quilt present for a friend. The cat block pattern is from 500 quilt blocks (more info on this book over at VeryKerryBerry’s blog here)

What’s everyone up to this weekend?
