Q2 of Finish Along 2014…

… Or my attempt at trying to motivate myself to finish things completely!

I’m ashamed to admit that I actually start this a little over a year ago… I really am struggling with the fabric (a Cabbages and Roses Jelly Roll given when subscribed to Popular Patchwork). Wanting to get  this finished soon to give as a present!

Some of my vintage stash.. and look there’s actually quarter square triangles there already! Aiming to make with this lot a patchwork cushion, baby quilt and some odds and ends.

Something bit more for me… am really getting into crochet (when I’m not sewing) so I need a case to hold all me crochet hooks don’t I?!

Some other EPP bits that lying around… these are table centrepieces in theory. The bright bake sale one is for me 🙂

P1100639Now this is a prototype of something that I really need to get finished!

EPP HexiesSomething else for me that I’ve sorely neglected due to not having enough fabric. An epp tablecloth I found something similar so hopefully now back on track!

New Year… New Projects

Well where did 2013 go? I like to think that I have moved forward in my sewing journey but between work and finishing off my degree not as far as I would like so here’s to 2014! I’ve met some lovely people last year to whom I am grateful.

The madness in the few days leading up to Christmas has shown me that I can be productive when I put my mind to it so with that in mind my sewing aims for the year are:

  • actually learn dressmaking properly (instead of waiting until those pounds disappear)- i have some lovely skirt and tops patterns to try
  • actually finish things instead of adding it to the UFO column
  • following on from that finish some UFOs!
  • start a lot of new projects and expand my skills
  • design, design, design

On the Popular Patchwork forum I have included my UFO finishing aims here and my new projects here.

And to start the year off I will finish this 1930s repro mini quilt.

Am linking up to A Lovely Year of Finishes to help encourage this. What are your plans for 2014?

Who hasn’t heard of the Moda Bake Shop? It’s a place where you can find lots of lovely sewing recipes to tryI already have my eye on a few!

Like this simpleish and cute pincushion by Kim Niedzwiecki (featured on the MBS)

You can do all sort of funky shapes too- like this one by Kimber.

To anyone else does it remind you of a jester and all you need is a bell!

That’s my lovely picks for the day and still I’m no closer to what I’m actually going to make for my partner… are you?
