Woodland Critters.. aka a Finish!

So… my entry for the West Country Quilt Show is complete and is currently winging it’s way to Bristol. Helen and I are heading up on the Friday for it- is anyone else going? I’m looking forward to a trip out!

Please excuse the photos.. there was literally five minutes before we had to leave to catch the post office in case there was a manic queue (always!)

I was feeling quite proud of myself until I looked at the photos… at6am looks like I got overzealous with squaring it up but hey ho I started this a little less than a month ago- it’s all handsewn and despite my intentions.. it is not all hand quilted.

P1110160

i cheated the majority is machine quilted but using one of my snazzy new Perle #8 I did some hand quilting around the centre stars. Which I love… I wish I had time to do some in white around the next border but maybe when I get it back?! Think handquilting going to become another favourite thing of mine.

P1110162-001

The backing is one piece of a Red Rooster fabric I had picked up on a whim ages ago and it wasn’t until I was binding I noticed butterflies…. obviously when I bought it my brain zeroed in on the birds and ignored the butterflies. Argh good job it’s on the back right?! Butterflies and dolphins just don’t go there for me……..

And… guess what? It’s only another finish ticked up my FAL Q4 list 🙂

Now to get prepping for my manic gift sewing fest this week. Happy sunday all looks like there is some sun today!

A Little Progress

I can’t believe it is wednesday already! I’m slowly making progress on “Woodland Critters.” The embroidery centres are pieced….

P1110124

Just the rest to go… my aim was to get it pieced by the end of the week. Hmm might have to revise that esp since I’ve almost decided against appliqueing the finish piece but will rather epp the border…. One bonus of the wet windy weather is that I can’t go for a walk during lunchtime when at work.. so just sit in the car and stitch. Anything to get away from computer screens!

The husband is making me laugh… he saw these and went not another hexagon… to me I just see the stars mostly 😉

Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Cross… up to date!

Right earlier in the year I mentioned this epp bee I was a part of… sewing honeycombs for Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses block.. I don’t think I’ve shown much of what I’ve done so here goes and in no particular order… as I just finished September today so woohoo all caught up 🙂

Sunday Stash…

I have no idea what I have done with this week apart from work and sleep. It’s not been a great one for me sewing wise with being constantly wiped out!

But.. look what has arrived this week!!

P1110075Over the summer I pattern tested for Elizabeth from Oh Fransson those cute hedgies and this week the most amazing thank you gift arrived! Printed patterns and a Kona Charm Pack. My hedgies are almost quilted… I’m still at the stage of deciding to live with what I’ve done or rip it all out and start again (the quilting that is!)

P1110076I also couldn’t resist these two bundles of vintagey goodness from Mary. Don’t they play well together? Hopefully… some point soon this will actually be a quilt for moi.

Sneaky peek of what I am currently working on and hoping to link up with Le Challenge in time for this month…. Guess I better get back to it! And finally watching some more eps of the last season of Fringe whilst I’m at it.

How is everyone’s sunday stitching plans going? Linking up with Molli Sparkles…

July Bees!

This month I’m Queen in two online quilting bees which basically means that I choose a theme/design and each individual in the bee does their own interpretation of it and sends it to me 🙂

First up the I Love Lucy Bee.. it wasn’t hard to pick my theme this month combining epp with 30s repros is a given right?

Then there’s the UK Fat Stash Bee where you send each bee member a FQ worth of fabric and they mix n match from their own stash. Here is what I sent…. altho the kitties do change colour as does the polka and the other smaller pieces.

Here’s what I’ve chosen… either a granny square with kitty in the middle or a patchwork cat block. My cat mad friend birthday is in a few months so thought this might be apt 🙂

Can’t wait to see what I get back! Now on to some projects…
