In my last post I hinted that I had finished four quilts over the Christmas break and well I have! Sadly though I FORGOT to get photos of it finished what is wrong with me??? So I’m sorry in advance as some are clearly in-progress shots.
My favourite finish is this Disney Cars Chevron Quilt for my two year old nephew Oliver. He did receive the knight/dragon quilt for his birthday in August but he loves it so much he can’t be without it for a day hence the need for another… Isn’t it great when someone truly loves your work?
December/January also sees the arrival of a new nephew and a friend’s little one so two pram quilts! and yay to a picture of one finished!!
The fourth quilt was a different variation of the dragon/knight one I did for Oliver but for another nephew…
All were quilted with the only quilting I seem to know how to do.. that of the wonky straight line. I have a feeling my walking foot is now shot and it was very last minute finishes quilting with the standard..
Linking up (yay I rememberd) to the FAL Q4 finishes party as these were on my starting list!

Well I’ve been back four days now it’s time I wrote something about my time in the Midlands and at Festival of Quilts! Firstly this is me and my entry…..
Overall I like it… it’s just the finishing touches that let it down and in the interests of transparency and future record…. my judge’s comments were much better than expected! True some of that could have been avoided if I didn’t left it to the last minute to decide…
I did manage to come away with some goodies from the trade stalls and then at the Fabric Guild in Leicester…
Now on to the quilts and in no particular order these are some of my favourites! Unfortunately I forgot to photo pretty much most of the credits so I do apologise hopefully you be able to find out or let me know 🙂
My photography isn’t too great in these so I must have been pretty distracted!
Love everything about this the colours, hexies and stars.Right back to my childhood and memories of playing.. how cool is this?!
“Cats with Hattitudes”
At the moment I’m really loving this type of work, the above harbour one reminds me of some art I recently saw down St Ives.
Bowie by Kerry Wilkinson (PennyDog)
So now you guess what caught me eye… there was loads more I loved but either forgot to photo or too many people in the way. Did anyone else go and have fun?
I also popped by the new Modern branch of the Quilters Guild and signed up. Sadly there’s not too much of a Cornish quilting presence so think might have to change that…. anybody interested?

Busy week! But sneaking in quickly to show you my goals for the FAL 2014 Q1. Yup I do have more things that need finishing that I haven’t already mentioned or committed elsewhere.. oh dear.
First up these random piles of squares and HSTs. I do have a plan! Pink/Red/Purple heart with a LV background scrappy style. Done a mini quilt in this so intending to do a cushion, another mini quilt and a hoop project.
Really need to get this finished and gifted. EPP diamonds ready to be appliqued and turned into a bag!
One of my random block urges last year- this will turn into a concealed zip tote perfect for me cart my sewing stuff to and fro from work 😉
EPP Spring Carnival- some of my Bee Europa kindly helped out with the block and thanks to Kerry of Pennydog for helping to fill out my Heaven and Helsinki stash. This will be a wallhanging for me… eventually.
The pink fabric and Colette Ginger Skirt pattern… well I’ve had a while even the invisible zip. Going to make a skirt and a top for me with these.
Another thing for me.. my octagon flower humongous block with some FW blocks that my fellow Bee Europa kindly with.
Last but not least.. one of my obsessions! Had intended to get this done over Christmas break.. but time disappeared.
Seriously… think I love starting things to much so hopefully all of this will give me extra motivation to finish!
What are you working on?

Finally a new post…
Work, study and a nasty virus has taken me up the past month or so but today had some time out to go to the Exeter Quilt Festival. More photos on that to come once I figure out how to get the photos out of my phone.. Meanwhile there’s a cutesy one on my instagram page here.
I was quite good and restrained myself.. trying to save for a) Sissix Big Shot and b) another sewing machine. These are what I picked up today…
The owl is actually a large panel full of owls and sweet little birdies- am thinking quilt or for a child sized bed 🙂 The ones on the left are for meeee and hopefully be bags or something soon… I had to go back for the others so cute and perfect for little boys.
Came home to a parcel and it’s the new Craft Club from Seamstar- am really pleased with it. Go check it out here if you fancy trying it.
This month’s theme is Zoology- gorgeous fabrics, trimmings, buttons, felt and even a little make your own linen birdie kit. So who else is tempted to sign up?
And…… one more thing a sneaky peek for the Squintessential shop if you will….
