Quick Update….

Things have been a little busy (and slow or let’s be honest non existent!) here but I’m still around 🙂 I think I’m back on track emotionally and task wise after the upheaval of the past few months (let’s just say two family funerals and house problems in addition normal worky stress).

Sewing became a chore for awhile especially since it was mostly finishing for swaps… but some time out and trying a new craft seemed to have done the trick. Meet my new obsession….

And I’m not just talking about Dean Winchester! Although if you insist…………… 😉

Got a few things to show off soon including a yummy almond butter cookie recipe. And I’ve actually been sewing for me! Catching up on my Farmer Wife Blocks and working on a christmassy tablecloth. I’m going to have to start on some presents soon but not today!

Hope everyone’s weekend plans going just as well.

Goals Q2 Finish-A-Long

Well Q1 was dismal and even forgot to link up my one measly finish… here’s hoping to a better Q2! Especially since my new toy should be arriving end of next week 🙂

Some are these are carried on from the last quarter and this list is by no means definitive of what I have to do but I need a big kick to keep on track…

1. My mini for the Ukminiswap- due in a couple of weeks… I’ve been feeling a little intimidated by my partner so it’s taking me ages to decide what to do! Mixing up some daysail with curves….

Pentagon EPP Boy Ball2. A Pentagon ball made via english paper piecing for my nephew Louis.

P11109003-7. I STILL have quilts for the little ones to do. The above is the backing for the youngest. The other quilts can be seen here and I have Hazel the Hedgehog all cut out too as a bonus one. Also adding in a pram quilt made out of triangles and boyish fabrics which must be finished soon… yes really!

Milk, Flower and Sugar Hexagons EPP

8. An on the go project for a hexie baby quilt- recipient indetermined. But given that I have a lot of deadlines coming up for both the day job and sewing this is my way to relax. And it’s such pretty fabric! I just can’t decide on the next border for the hexie flowers…Oh Deer Circles

9. These started out as tester blocks for when I was doing a curved project last month (more on that soon). I couldn’t stop however… just need to do some more blocksP1110898

10. Can you spot a theme already? With gritted teeth this is going to be a butterfly block (those who know me don’t fall off in shock as I really do not like these things…) but once you get an idea go with it right?? Destined to be a little one’s quilt.P1110899  11-12. Gifts in the making.. all cut and interfaced just needs sewing up complete with zips. I’m betting a couple of people can guess who these are for…  especially since one has been hanging around since last year….

12. This is happening… my seal quilt in applique. I want to enter this in FOQ but it be great if it could be done at least a month in advance of the deadline…

Also on the list are………. minis for the Fairytaleswap, Sherlock Swap but I have no idea at present so won’t count those! Besides think I have enough to be getting on with right??

What is everyone else working on? Linking up with Adrianne.

Where has three years gone?

So.. three years ago yesterday this happened……..

Prepping for that day is what got me heavily into crafts and sewing. To celebrate we had a quiet day to ourselves and as the weather behaved for once went down to one of my favourite Cornish spots for a walk- Godrevy. Armed with binoculars and camera we saw some lovely Sparrowhawks on the hunt, sparrows, robins and my personal favourite SEALS and there were a few pups too on the cove.

Sadly it was rather windy on the cliff so my photos didn’t turn out spectactular.. to give you an idea of how high we were up this is on 23x zoom towards the back of the beach/cove. If anyone would like to learn more about seals or Cornish grey seals this website is the best place 🙂 There is also the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek.

P1110292

To round it off we had fish and chips and even cheesecake… well technically I had cheesecake Matthew got a chocolatey thing.

Then back home where I even managed some sewing (epp of course) watching tv and chatting. Good job too as I have these minis to finish…

P1110355A Jane Austen inspired one… going for P and P and I might be slightly crazy as going to attempt to embroider that large quote!

P1110356A riot of colour this one is- it’s from the Little Quilts book “Fans of May”.

P1110353The day after I submitted my quilt for the Westcountry Quilt Show I started prepping this……. it’s for the IG Mini Swap and my partner doesn’t give much away! Modern, hexies and a lot of teal/blue. In the corner is some prep work for some ornaments….. it might be the only christmas decs I’ll get round to doing!

What is everyone up to this week? I’m heading up to Bristol for the quilt show and Fiona Pullen’s book launch party in Exeter tomorrow. Sunday I’m hoping to head up to Cowslip Workshops for their fayre then it’s back to work on Monday.

Linking up with Lee over at Freshly Pieced for WIP Wednesday.
